Monday Morning News

Local Green Lakers and GLIYC sailors Dan Bierman and Joe Norton spent the weekend sailing in Madison at the Renegade Championship and the DN Westerns. Also in attendance was Bob Cummins a GLIYC member as well, who also sailed in the DN class as well. It was a good weekend to be sailing from our club.

In the Renegade fleet, one of the thoroughbreds in the world of ice boating, Dan was able to place tenth overall in a fleet of twenty two boats. This being Dan's first regatta in the boat this is a huge accomplishment with the quality of sailors in this class being pretty high. The next major regatta is the ISA for the Renegades sometime soon.

The DN Westerns had forty one boats in attendance, separated in to two fleets a gold and silver fleet. Joe Norton was able to finished in third place for the regatta in the silver fleet. This was followed by Bob Cummins in fifth place for the event. The silver fleet had twenty seven boats participating. This too was a great showing for the club.

The next regattas up are the DN Worlds and Nite Nationals.

  1. Hey Dan,

Way to go! You have a fast boat. Each regatta you will pick up a few tips in how to better tune and sail a good tactical race.

    Regards...Archie
