Weekend sailing a big hit

Early morning start!

It was cold but the conditions were just about right as we got in a great day of sailing. The ice sheet had some really nice ice on the far west end mirror quality, closer to the landing it had the occasional atv mark or freeze bump but was still in really nice shape. So most everyone showed up and brought something to sail.

The Ice Opti program got its second day under its belt this time with the kids grabbing and going with the boats. There were better ice conditions and of course plenty of wind. The boats were in constant use as the children came in swapped out, warmed up and repeated the cycle. By late afternoon they were wiped out from being out on the ice all day. All in all it was a great experience and they all became more comfortable with the boats and the ice.

For the rest of us we all got in some sailing, we saw a couple of new boats to the club which was cool and we got a bunch more people out on the ice for rides and cruises. A few of the DN's rigged up and went tuning all around the lake.

All in all it was a great day of club sailing with only one broken boom, one dead car battery, a host of tired kids and a bunch of smiles. Well worth it I would say.
