Ice Report

I just went out and checked ice a couple of hours ago on the west end of the lake. I expected the lake to really be a mess with all the snow we got on Friday night into Saturday morning. Instead I am shocked at how the lake is holding together which is not bad. The thickness has added a little bit with the total being just a shy bit short of five inches. The surface has about one and a half inches of light snow with NO drifts. What seems to be happening is the surface is still laying flat and the ice underneath is adding thickness. The top part of the ice has some small imperfections but is pretty smooth and still black ice. Anywhere else we would be seeing drifts and snow depth increasing but not here. This is good news with the cold snap coming we could be close to regatta ice.
