Green Lake Wooden Boat Show

This past weekend the GLIYC participated and also helped run the concessions for the Green Lake Wooden Boat Club. At one time this was a huge event but times had changed and numbers had dwindled to where the event was no longer being held. This year the Wooden Boat Club decided to re energize the event, and with the help of the new owners of Norton Boatworks and the help of many volunteers we had a great event.

The GLIYC displayed our restored sternsteerer and also the Morgan families Ice Opti. Both were great additions to the show and drew a fair amount of interest in the clubs activities and the sport itself. Enough can not be said about exposing people to the sport of ice boating in non traditional ways which make it easier in the winter to grab their attention. For the person new to the concept sizing up an iceboat, or talking to someone who can explain it to you in shorts and a shirt vs a helmet and jacket makes it easier.

A big thanks to all those who setup and took down the iceboats for the show. To those that manned the food stand, you received rave reviews about how good the food was. I think a lot of people in the community were pretty impressed.

Our next big event will be the Harvest Fest so stay tuned. Pictures from this show will be coming soon.
